HEELS HOUSING
On December 2018, I began my first full web development project at 1893 Brand Studio. The project was an update to the studio’s HeelsHousing project, which hadn’t been updated in a few years. The goal of the website is to provide a space for students and other locals to search for affordable housing.
For the first few weeks, I designed wireframes for the website using Adobe XD and developed a style guide for the website with my coworker Sam Collins. Once we settled on a design for the website, we started developing rough drafts locally on wordpress using the Houzez theme.
We transferred the draft from the local environment to an online test environment and spent the next few weeks completing the website and learning how to incorporate the features of the theme, which allowed people to create accounts on the website for leasing properties out or renting as a tenant.
The website features an interactive property map and pages for each property with full floor plans, images, pricing plans, and other features listed. Another key feature of the website is the reolcation guide, a yearly publication from the Daily Tar Heel that serves as an all-purpose guide to the area for new residents or current residents looking to see more of Chapel Hill.
