1893 Brand Studio
From the autumn of my sophomore year at UNC-Chapel Hill till the summer after my senior year, I worked at the 1893 Brand Studio. Here, I got a chance to hone my web design and graphic design skills and get experience working for real clients for the first time while still in school. As a branch of Chapel Hill’s popular student newspaper, The Daily Tar Heel, 1893 was intrinsically tied to the town of Chapel Hill and the University, leading to lots of opportunities to collaborate with local businesses.
Near the end of my senior year in 2020, just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, I was tasked with redesigning the website and giving it a fresh coat of paint. Over the course of several weeks, I rebuilt the site from the ground up beginning with wireframing, rebranding, and several iterations of proofs before beginning construction on the site. In the two years since I graduated from UNC and left 1893, the site has had some more branding updates and adjustments made by the web designer who took my place.
